Auditions – The Prom

March 29 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

On Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7th and 8th, Seneca Community Players will hold auditions for its production of The Prom with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Beguelin, based on an original concept by Jack Viertel. Auditions will be held at the Lafayette Theater, located at 202 W. Main Street in Waterloo

The plot of the show highlights the careers of four eccentric Broadway stars who are struggling and desperately need a new stage upon which to shine bright once more. Seeking out a cause, they head straight to small-town Indiana. Through social media, they have heard of trouble brewing around a school prom. Local girl, Emma Nolan, wants to take her girlfriend to prom but the homophobic PTA are on a mission to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow. Determined to transform lives and put themselves back in the limelight, the celebrities muscle in to change the town and give Emma the prom she deserves.

Directed by Deb Bly, The Prom encourages gender diverse and color conscious casting. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds, gender identities, and abilities are encouraged to apply.

Parts for 8 female, 5 male and 2 gender-flexible featured roles and a larger ensemble will be cast. Bring a prepared song (an accompanist will be provided) and be ready to dance and read from the script. Actors of any age are welcome, however must be able to play roles of 18+ years.

Call Deb at 516-330-8916 to reserve an audition time.
