Seneca Falls, NY, July 28, 2018—- Seneca Community players are seeking actors to audition for their upcoming October 2018 production of No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre, script translated by Paul Bowles. The show will be directed by guest director Kevin Howson. Needed for the production of No Exit is a cast of 2 females and 2 males. Preferred age range of actors from 20’s – 30’s. Actors of all backgrounds are welcome to audition. Auditions will be held on Monday August 20 and Tuesday August 21  at 6:30 PM until 7:45 PM at the Seneca Falls Library.

Renowned as an existentialist philosopher, author Jean-Paul Sartre was also an accomplished playwright. His play, No Exit, originally titled Huis Clos in French, was first performed in 1944 in Paris. The piece is Sartre’s most well-known play and also one of the most performed plays of the 20th century.

The play takes place in a dreary and sparsely furnished room. One by one, the room begins to be filled by three occupants who, as we come to realize, are in fact damned souls in hell. They share their lives with one another and the misdeeds which preceded them to earn them their eternal residence. The irony of the hell they are in is not that they will be tormented by wicked instruments and torturers, but rather by each other as their sins are laid bare for ridicule and humiliation.

Performances will be October 5th – 7th and the following weekend October 12th – 14th, all performances will be at [Showtime Here] PM at Academy Square at 12 North Main Street, Seneca Falls, New York.
